Freshly Picked Review + Giveaway!

Hello friends,

You may have heard of Freshly Picked Moccasins. They are adorning the cutest feet all over. I was so excited to be able to review a pair of these moccasins for Ada. And I am happy to report, they are worth the hype!

I ordered her moccasins in platinum, thinking versatility! They go with everything. There are so many color choices, if you are looking for something gender neutral, or boyish, or girly, you will be able to find the perfect color to fit your little.

See! I told you! Adorable.

The moccasins came in a sweet little shoe bag, perfect for keeping them in after Ada outgrows them. One of my favorite things about these moccs is they actually stay on feet! When Lylah was younger, I tried every shoe possible, with no luck. She could get anything off. The leather is so soft, and the sizing on the website was easy peasy. Ada is a 2, tiny little toes!

If you aren’t familiar with how Freshly Picked was started, please read Susan’s story here. It’s such an inspiring story, especially to this small business owner.

Ada Lou is not quite walking yet, but I know what will be on her feet when she does start. I’ll admit, I’m hooked. The most adorable shoe ever!

If you would like a pair of moccasins for your baby, please head over to my instagram account for details on how to win a pair of these adorable shoes AND a baby bonnet from yours truly. Sweetness from head to toe!

Lots of exciting thing happening around here.  I am busy as a bee getting ready for summer shows, and I am so excited to be rolling out new products as well!  Here is my new boys bonnet, available in my shop.  The fabric I found for this is to die for.  It is a linen, and colors are even sweeter in person.

This means I am working ahead towards Fall/Winter bonnets. Seems odd when it’s 80 degrees out, with fall off in the long distance. We haven’t even hit the pool yet, but I am ready for fall. Summer is great, but there is nothing better than a cool crisp fall day! Until then, I’ll be knitting away.

Cleaning up around here and shop update

It’s been a while since I have made an actual blog post.  I have been focusing most of my attention to Instagram, because lets face it, a picture with a few words underneath it is much easier when you are chasing a baby and toddler around.  Ada is about to reach into her fourth quarter of life, and I think it’s time to get back into the action!

So, a little refresher on this site was my first order of action, and let me tell you, it was not easy.  But, a few headaches later, I am here.  I have been updating my shop on Etsy and moving forward I will be only using organic knit fabrics designed by yours truly.  I’ve been dabbling in fabric design a little bit, and although a little intimidating, it is so much fun!

I will also be adding some new patterns above, so stay tuned for those.  See you back here soon!

Spreading Christmas Cheer – Giveaway

I mentioned last week, I would be having a give away this week. I am partnering up with the folks at What to Expect for a gigantic give away. If you have had children in the past, or plan to in the future, listen up! When I was pregnant with my teenager – I read What to Expect When You’re Expecting. I read and re-read every day. It was my go to book. A couple years ago when I found out I was expecting again, I went straight to Target and picked up a new copy. I was surprised to see that there were many new books in the series, including What to Expect Before You’re expecting, and What to expect the first year. These books are so easy to read, and so informative. whattoexpect-1.com-122

So….Here’s the details. You will get TWO packages. One from me – One from What to Expect. These packages will include ALL THREE books mentioned above from the What to Expect series, and also, from LylahG – a festive newborn size holly berry hat. Holly_2

I will select a random commenter to receive these wonderful gifts next THURSDAY, December 13. Good luck!

Christmas 2012

Original title, eh? Things have finally cooled off in Atlanta, and the pink pig has made her appearance at Lenox Square. The hustle and bustle of holiday shows are behind me, and I am ready to drink in the magic of Christmas. Although, I have actually been in the Christmas spirit since September when I started building inventory for the season – but who’s counting?

Thanksgiving was pretty uneventful around here. For the second year in a row, I bought the entire meal from Fresh Market. I feel a tad guilty about this, but with the Indie Craft Experience the weekend before, who has time to go grocery shopping? Or plan a meal?

As our Thanksgiving holiday tradition goes, Big Red always comes out the day after.the weekend after. Sadly, I think this may be the last year for big red. I have never been into the artificial type, but my husband, who’s job is lights, swears by the “I’m already lit, just fold my branches” type. I’m much more of the “clog your vacuum with needles, but enjoy the smell” bunch. So this year, I almost had him in the car and ready to go over the river and through the woods, and I backed out at the last minute. So, Big Red, you made it in one more year!

Lylah was really digging the decorating part, in fact, she is still arranging and rearranging ornaments every morning. Sigh, so much for the perfectly decorated tree!

At first, she liked the tree bag more than the tree…

As you can see, Cassi is clearly ecstatic about what we find in the giant tupperware tubs.

I am excited to announce that I am teaming up with the folks over at What to Expect for an exciting give away! Because, hey, what’s Christmas without a gift? Stay tuned next week for all the details – but I can one thing – it’s gonna be really good.

xoxo

Fall is here!

This blog is pretty much reading like my 8th grade diary. Or any other journal I’ve ever had. I write write write in the beginning and then nothing. So- welcome to my world. :) I am really feeling facebook and instagram (look for jkearns) lately so if you wanna hear what I’m up to, those are probably the best places to catch me.

I love fall. It’s probably the best season ever, according to me, and this fall is not disappointing. The leaves haven’t even changed, and I keep building up inventory, only to have it depleted in one weekend. This weekend will be no different. If you are in Atlanta, come check out The Riverview Landing Fall Festival. I have to admit, before they contacted me about vending I had never heard of this event – I was missing out! I am so excited, I am making Tyler come help me in my booth so that I can have some time to walk around and check things out. So come buy a hat from an enthusiastic 10th grader who will be doing his best to hold a conversation. Uhhh…yea…uhhh….yea….you know how it goes.

Also, once again this year I will be a vendor at the Holiday ICE show. It’s the best place to start checking off your Christmas list. And if you have never given a handmade, one of a kind, gift to someone, I dare you. If you LOVE giving other people gifts like me, the look on someone’s face when you give them the perfect, thoughtful gift is the BEST gift to get!

Have plans that weekend? Oh – you can get one of a kind, awesome gifts from some of the same vendors at the POP UP SHOP, happening at Criminal Records for basically the entire month of December and a little of November. I will also have super inventory stocked up at The Beehive, and also at Young Blood Gallery, so listen, there is NO EXCUSE if your little one’s head gets cold. Seriously – look at this.

…And if you don’t want a little piggy on the head, how about some hand knits covering up some little piggys on the feet?

Ok, that’s it. See you in 3 months for another post!
